Many years ago, the evil black Shadow Plättchen attacked a peaceful planet in order to destroy all life on it. Thanks to the help of a mysterious force, destruction could be averted but all of the planet’s life was being transformed into ball shaped beings. Subsequently, the planet was occuppied by dangerous monsters. Having been forced to life with their new form and the occupation for many years, the planet’s inhabitants adapted themselves and learned to manage life without their human forms.
One day, a small lad suddenly fell off the tree of life and being born as a ball, he never had the chance to know how it feels to run, jump or or using hands...
Gifted with a natural curiosity, Niki never stops to image how life would be with having hands and feet. Night after night, his imagination goes wild and he dreams of all the things he could do - but of course everything still looks like a ball would imagine it. Niki’s hands and feet and even his body are ball-shaped and all objects around him have round forms – except for monsters, which like in his real life, are spiky and menacing.
Explore an ever-changing dream world that constantly and dynamically rebuilds itself. Bridges are being built, blocks appear and disappear, hills come up and go down, objects form in mid-air.. the possibilities are limitless! Run, jump, fly and shoot yourself through fantastically abstract stages, packed with hordes of different monstes and never-seen gameplay elements. Every action you do has an impact on the world, making every step a new surprise!
Defeat monsters to gain ZeLeLi emblems that give you new powers that enable you to run faster, jump higher, shoot and even fly through the air. While Niki’s vivid dream world might look a little hard to grasp in 2D, the 3D visuals of Nintendo 3DS clears up the view.
